Artist Biography - Brenda j Schodt
For over 25 years I have been creating and painting unique effects on glass ornaments.
I fell in love with the Arizona desert in 1980 upon arriving at Arizona State University from my hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin. I obtained a degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic design in 1985. From the moment I arrived in Arizona, my goal was to create art of this beautiful state. While working and going to school, I made
money painting on ornaments for a local company. The company moved but since then
I always had a love of painting on ornaments. I found painting on round glass to be quite challenging and very rewarding to see the happiness an ornament can bring. After many years of giving my handpainted ornaments as gifts at Christmas time, I founded my first company called Delicate Designs in May of 1997. In July of 2007, I renamed and restructured my company which I have now called Southwest Ornaments, LLC.

I especially love creating designs that have a special meaning or memory for my customers. With so much vibrant
natural beauty all alround the Southwest, much of my inspiration comes from the love of the Arizona desert and surrounding areas.
As my business has grown, I have had an endless amount of support from my family. My family has been my inspiration and Southwest Ornaments would not be here without them. The many loyal and wonderful customers have made it possible to keep this dream alive by continuing to show so much interest in my ornaments. We are a family owned and operated business based out of Chandler, Arizona and we are proud to say that all materials used to create our ornaments are made in the USA. We also love to give back to our community and have made many donations to nonprofit charities and auctions, as well as school and organization fundraisers. Recently, I have expanded my business and I am now able to have my original designs masterfully printed on glass ornaments with handpainted hightlights that makes each a one-of-a-kind collectible. This process has allowed me to reach out to more people and bring my love of art, ornaments, and design to the internet.
